Yukon is the smallest of the three territories situated in the western part of Canada and shares a border with the United States of Alaska. Yukon nominee program allows Yukon to nominate applicants who qualify for the federal government for permanent residency. The Yukon Nominee Program is run by the Yukon province Government in partnership with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the ‘Agreement for Canada – Yukon Co-operation on Immigration’.

There are different Yukon Nominee programs:
Skilled worker program is for qualified workers who fit into National Occupational Classification – NOC skill type 0, A or B. This program enables the Yukon province employers to facilitate and sponsor the Canadian permanent residency of immigrants. The applicant needs to have at least one year of experience for the job opening and relevant language proficiency in English as the second language (ESL) and must possess a valid work permit.
Express Entry is for skilled workers in the express entry pool and fit into the NOC skill type 0, A or B. This allows Yukon employers to recruit a workforce that is lacked in Yukon.
Critical Impact Worker Program is for qualified workers who fit into NOC C or D categories. This program is specifically for foreign workers who are semi-skilled and low-skilled for a job that is highly in-demand. The applicants must receive a job offer from a Yukon employer. An immigrant must have relevant job experience and must be English or French savvy.
Business Nominee Program is for foreign individuals who have business skills to own a business and acquire a business in Yukon. The applicant needs to have a minimum net worth of $250,000 and have an investment valued at least $150,000 to be qualified for this program. The applicant should have five years of entrepreneurial experience and sound communication skills in English or French.
Process time for YNP
Processing of applications is done on a first-come-first-serve basis. For Skilled Worker and Critical Impact Worker applications, it takes up to six weeks to complete processing once an application is submitted. The duration of processing may increase depending on the volume of the application package received. The nominated candidates can commence for Canadian permanent residence and citizenship.
