Alberta Immigration Nominee Program – AINP

The Alberta Immigration Nominee Program was established along with other PNP of Canadian states.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is an economic immigration program that helps in nominating people for permanent residence in Alberta. The nominated individual must have skills and abilities to fill job shortages in Alberta and be able to settle down with their families in the province.

The individual nominated through the Alberta Immigration Nominee program can apply for the PR status for self and family. The federal government makes the final decision on the application for PR Status. The Alberta Immigration Authority is also the largest immigration body in the province. It deals with the entry of foreign immigrants with PR visa into the state.

Note: Alberta has recently changed the rules for the immigration application for dependent children. The minimum age for the dependent children category has been changed to below 22 years from 19 years. This change is applicable for all the applications received on or after 24th October 2017.

The province operates different immigration streams which are divided into three categories:

ALBERTA
Opportunity Stream

This stream was launched in June 2018 and targets foreign nationals who are already working in Alberta and who have an official offer of employment from the Alberta employer to continue working full time in the province. Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements regarding work experience, job offer, language proficiency, and education.

ALBERTA
Express Entry

This stream was also launched in June 2018 and allows the province to offer provincial nominations to select candidates with active profiles in the federal Express Entry system. Alberta will automatically consider profiles in the federal Express Entry pool.

ALBERTA
Self Employed Farmer

This stream targets foreign nationals with experience owning and operating farm and who have financial resources to launch a new farming operation in Alberta. Candidates for this stream should consult with the province and submit highly detailed proposal outlining the plan to launch a new agricultural farm in Alberta.
